You should try this myfitnesspal site. You can do it online or on a smart phone. It's been great for keeping track of food and exercise and water. And I'm normally such a slacker on tracking. Good for you for making new goals.

Change is hard, but I'm going to really try this month, at least to tame the food side a bit. With working out, I know once I start and get into a routine I can keep going.
However, once I take a break for whatever reason, going back is hard. I even beem known to miss a whole month of gym that I have paid for, so I think until I can absolutely be sure that I'm totally committed I will not be paying any gym fees. I'll commit to the free aerobics, then I can consider paid gym membership.

Congrats! That's two more medals than I have! You didn't gain! And maintaining is very difficult- you're just practicing for the future, right?
I find that I'm really good at talking about change, but follow through is another matter. I have NEVER been successful at a diet, even for two weeks! About the free aerobics classes- is it because they're free that you're not going? I know that if I've pre-paid for an exercise class, I CAN'T waist the money! So I go.

It was actually the first time I'd been; loved it and will definitely go back! Driving all the way was a killer, but the scenery is to die for. I did think about meeting up, but then we only had three full days and a tight schedule, so on my next visit definitely.

Great job for the month of January. Build in snacks, so that you don't feel you're cheating. And find healthy things that fill the "itch" you have- such as popcorn (without much butter) or carrots (they can be pretty sweet!), or a protein shake with half a frozen banana and peanut butter (yum!). I came back from the USA with at least a 2 kg increase, if not more, so that's what I'm working on!

2012 is not turning out how I thought it would so far! We no longer have a car (we were borrowing it) and now I have to walk, bicycle, taxi, or us the train everywhere. Mostly this means that I'm staying at home. The gym is a 45 minute bike ride away! I'm pretty afraid that all the physical fitness I've gained will disappear. But I do have hope, and I'm glad that you still have hope. Have you been going to the aerobics classes still? I friended you on Facebook so that we can keep in touch and maybe support each other on our journeys!

We always have a plastic tub right by our dinner pan and portion out my hubby's lunch before we even plate our dinner. It works most days. Then, I try to have easy grab and go things like carrots or apples for snacks. In the US, we have "100 calorie packs" of food- so handy! I haven't really seen it in SA.
About your hunger, try drinking a full glass of water- sometimes that will fill our need!

That's a great objective. I always have to remind myself that I am doing my best for right then. Tomorrow is another day. Emotions are sometimes so tied to unhealthy eating. For me, loneliness has been a huge trigger. Self reflection is so hard sometimes, keep going at it- you'll continue to make connections. As Oprah says (to be cheesy!) "when you know better, you do better."
You'll get there.

Good for you! It's hard to commit each week to a class that's tough. The right instructor, music, time of day, and people all have to come together to make a positive experience. I'm glad you've found one. I never used to like gym classes, but now I'm so used to it, I have to limit myself sometimes! Hard to make good food choice, but planning ahead is the key! Terrific job.

once you start mentally trying to lose weight, if you don't actually do it, it reeks some mental warfare type junk on you. because you are paying attention and not just idly going through your day. then when you don't have success it's that much worse.
talking to someone about the underlying issues is an awesome idea. remember it's never too soon to start this, so don't wait too long to seek help.

Aw, thanks for the hug, Sally! Here's one back...I do try to stave the cravings thoughts, and it's easiest at work because I have no food at my disposal. The problem is mostly when I get home. It's a matter of habit really, but I'm working on it. Thanks for the advice!
